The Ultimate Marketing Machine

Product marketing drives business and when you know what your customers want in a product, you can become king on an industry. Dan Creed, VP of Marketing at BMW, makes some great points about how BMW is staying atop of the U.S. luxury car game. Mr. Creed believes that efficiency, sustainability and driving dynamics are the three focused components that will help BMW continue to be the Ultimate Driving Machine now, and in the future. I am really excited to see BMW’s place in the 2012 London Olympics. With a world stage like that, the best of the best HAS to be brought out.

“Those who have invested in their product & are bringing innovative solutions to market are gonna win” — Dan Creed BMW VP of Marketing

Social Currency

Now more than ever, the use of social media is essential in marketing strategy. On Twitter alone, more than 200 million tweets are sent out worldwide each day! The reach that one tweet can produce is extraordinary and makes me kind of think why I never came up with the idea of using one of the most powerful tools as a currency.

Paywithatweet.com is the first social payment system, where people pay with the value of their social network. I recently stumbled unto this website when I was trying to download a couple of songs off of the internet. Trust me, I would rather use my free twitter account to spread the word on an item that would usually cost me cold hard cash. This just goes to say that no matter how advanced we get, grassroots and word of mouth marketing will always be the base of a successful campaign.

That Time of Year

Folks, it’s that time of the year again! Stupid amounts of money have been spent by corporations in hopes that us, the consumer, will go out and buy their products! Super Bowl Sunday is 3 days away and I don’t know if I am more excited for the game itself, or for the over the top commercials. I would say the halftime show, but those haven’t been good since Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.

This year has been labeled the year of the car. Automotive Super Bowl ad spend is up almost 40% from last year. Hyundai alone plans to air at least 5 commercials. The question is, how many Kia ads will show Blake Griffin dunking on Kendrick Perkins?

Here are few of the Super Bowl commercials that will air this Sunday:

The monkeys are back to throw poop and order banana daiquiris! Too funny!

Easily the coolest one I have seen thus far. Rob Dyrdek is the man for bunging jumping in a car and doing a flip over his world largest skateboard.

Not as good as last years, but still a good concept. Does the fat dog have some type of CG on him to make him that fat? It kind of looks like it to me.

Note to Lexus, DO NOT RELEASE THIS COMMERCIAL. This isn’t Super Bowl quality. Back to the drawing board please!

Just Tweet It!

This came as a complete shock to me, but I never knew that Nike didn’t have an official Twitter handle…until today! About 5 hours ago @Nike launched their official Twitter account. Of course Nike has had loads of success with their sport/athlete special segment accounts (@usnikefootball & @nikebasketball), but as an effort to attract the everyday “regular” consumer, this account will focus on inspiring everyone with a body to be an athlete.

‘Tis the Season of Holiday Commercials!

While I was slumped on the couch last week from eating too much turkey and pound cake, the pleasant surprise of fresh holiday commercials filled my TV screen! Some people might say that the Super Bowl has the best commercials, but i’ll go out on a limb and say that Winter Holiday commercials are 10x’s better. They are better for the simple fact that there is a more human/natural flavor. Take a look at some of my favorites so far!

For some reason, people have their panties in a bunch about this Santa being put out of business commercial. Maybe i’ll find out how harsh it is when I have children?

And of course this wouldn’t be complete without a little love for Target. Their Black Friday lady (@ChristmasChamp) and upcoming 15 second spots are hands down the greatest!

Nike’s Epic Transformation Coming to a Sunday Near You

Well, I mentioned this in my last post and as soon as I said it, Nike did it. Is this video (narrated by who sounds like all time great, Michael Irvin) telling us that Nike is the official equipment sponsor for the NFL starting in 2012?? I can remember Nike being the official equipment sponsor years ago, but that was before they started the Pro Combat College uniforms. I really hope Nike doesn’t ruin years of tradition and customs in our great game of American Football. Time will tell and if the uniforms look good I will be a fan, but if not…

Oakland Raider Jersey’s maybe?
